چکیده
We address the determination of the second point-to-point shortest simple path in undirected networks. The effective reduced cost concept is introduced to compute the second best solution. This concept is used to prove that a path tree containing the second point-to-point shortest simple path is adjacent to any shortest path tree. Therefore, this result immediately implies a methods requiring O(m) time once that the shortest path tree is obtained on an undirected network with n nodes and m edges.

Single-Point Visibility Constraint Minimum Link Paths in Simple Polygons
We address the following problem: Given a simple polygon $P$ with $n$ vertices and two points $s$ and $t$ inside it, find a minimum link path between them such that a given target point $q$ is visible from at least one point on the path. The method is based on partitioning a portion of $P$ into a number of faces of equal link distance from a source point. This partitioning is essentially a shor...
متن کاملAn efficient time and space K point-to-point shortest simple paths algorithm
We address the problem identifying the K best point-to-point simple paths connecting a given pair of nodes in a directed network with arbitrary lengths. The main result in this paper is the proof that a path tree containing the kth point-to-point shortest simple path can be obtained by using one of the previous (k-1) path trees containing each one of the previous (k-1) best point-to-point short...
متن کاملOn Farthest-Point Information in Networks
Consider the continuum of points along the edges of a network, an embedded undirected graph with positive edge weights. Distance between these points can be measured as shortest path distance along the edges of the network. We introduce two new concepts to capture farthest-point information in this metric space. The first, eccentricity diagrams, are used to encode the distance towards farthest ...
متن کاملTwo optimal algorithms for finding bi-directional shortest path design problem in a block layout
In this paper, Shortest Path Design Problem (SPDP) in which the path is incident to all cells is considered. The bi-directional path is one of the known types of configuration of networks for Automated Guided Vehi-cles (AGV).To solve this problem, two algorithms are developed. For each algorithm an Integer Linear Pro-gramming (ILP) is determined. The objective functions of both algorithms are t...
متن کاملA Refined Complexity Analysis of Finding the Most Vital Edges for Undirected Shortest Paths
We study the NP-hard Shortest Path Most Vital Edges problem arising in the context of analyzing network robustness. For an undirected graph with positive integer edge lengths and two designated vertices s and t, the goal is to delete as few edges as possible in order to increase the length of the (new) shortest st-path as much as possible. This scenario has been mostly studied from the viewpoin...
